The word Satan comes from Hebrew and means adversary. Satan is the adversary of anybody that tries to follow the true God. Since the creation of man Satan has tried to deceive humanity into disobeying God and doing what is wrong. He deceived Eve in the Garden of Eden by telling her that she would not die, but she would be like God if she ate of the forbidden fruit. Of course, Satan lied to her. She died, and so have all of her descendants.
