I need a good project for History Day in 9th Grade, it has to be with the them, Triumph and Tragedy.

I was thinking about doing the Civil Rights movement, any ideas? All ideas are welcome.

Is 9th grade World History? (It is for ninth graders in our school.) If so, I would do something on the Holocaust. Plenty of tragedy, and eventually triumph.

If 9th grade is American History, something on 9/11 would be good.

how about you teach your students that they are part of the history too. and you ask them to do something that will be worth of an article in the newspaper, it can be sothing related to the history of the place you live in. in this way the students will not think of H as something abstract but as something that they are part of.
If you are interested in the Civil Rights movement, there would be plenty of people to do a project on. I think the person who has had the most recent attention was Medgar Evers, considered the first major Civil Rights leader who was assassinated/martyred (in 1963). His killer, Byron de la Beckwith, was finally sentenced 30 years later, then died in 2001. So really the way this story goes might be more - tragedy - triumph - tragedy - triumph.
Freedom Summer is a good bet, as it covers both aspects of it.
Stay in school, and don't write me your religious rhetoric. You may think your beliefs are true, but there is little evidence to support that. Your numbers thing is simply an urban myth, and far from scientific. PS- TAKE YOUR CAPS LOCK OFF SOMETIMES. IT IS VERY ANNOYING.
