The triumphs of World War 2?

I wonder what you mean. War is ALWAYS a disaster, not a triumph, and that particular war cost tens of millions of llives. In all human history since at least 1500BC, only the First World War was more awful.

The best things (best in my view, that is) that the experience and outcome of that war may have helped to bring about are:

1) first steps towards world unity, such as the forming of the United Nations, IMF and World Bank, and of the European Union;

2) spread of democracy around the world;

3) end of European imperialism - there is independence for all countries now that want it, except Palestine, Tibet, Chechnya and Kurdistan;

4) nuclear weapons have not been used again (after the first two in 1945);

5) most governments nowadays want peace and prosperity for their people, rather than being keen to make war.

Media hype and lies were brought to a never before seen level of development. The Russians just took a Pink Pearl eraser to people in history books they didn't like that they'd already erased. No, not with a Pink Pearl.
