I am doing history fair and the "topic" is Triumph and Tradgedy. I want to do my project on an artist (musician, painter, etc.) but it also has to relate to Chicago, and the person has to be dead. (sorry to be blunt, but they have to be pretty old)
Anyhow, they have to be-
-Some sort of artist (and everything under that category)
-Dead (sorry about that again)
-Related to Chicago for the most part
-Related to the topic: Triumph and Tradgedy.
Please and thank you! Tell me if you need anymore details and webpages are definitely helpful, along with other sources as well. (books, that is if you read :D J/K)
Are there any Chicago musicians/aritists of significance? (detail continued)?nortin
How about Louis Armstrong? He wasn't born there, but he really triumphed when he moved to Chicago.
Also, use google and start exploring -- use chicago history music artist as your search term.

Steve Goodman was a singer, remember City of New Orleans, the song about the train from Chicago to New Orleans? He died young of cancer at the height of his career as a folk musician.
