On a whim, I went to my nearest Triumph dealer in Manhattan to check out their models, one model caught my eye, their new Street Triple 675. I ask the dealer to let me get on it to get a feel for the bike, I can clear it, but I have to tippy toe in order to touch the ground while on the bike. He says "maybe you should get the seat lowered". I ask how and he said something to the effect of dog bone, new forks, and that it will handle differently etc. I get back home and look up topics related to seat lowering one post basically said that(seat height especially for small novice riders like me) is overrated and the author cites that he gave his Honda Gold Wing to his wife that stands 5'2"(same height as me ) without modification to the seat and she rides it with no problems. So if I am to buy this bike(at a later date, for I'm looking at the discontinued Triumph Speed Four to cut my teeth on now) does anyone think that the seat should be modified or just left alone. any help or suggestions

You can cut down the seat, basically you remove the cover, trim back the foam with a power knife to suit and re stretch and glue down the cover. Any upholstery shop can do this for a minimal cost. The seats on modern bikes do not have a lot of padding to remove this way, you might gain an inch or so.
